Vice Commodore

Jenn Casey

Jenn has been involved with the Vermilion Boat Club since 2009, and has loved every minute of it. From the early days of learning to breed fish to helping run youth and adult sailing regattas at the VBC, Jenn enjoys all aspects of the club and is committed to making the VBC the best place it can be. The sustainability of our club and the development of young yachtsmen and yachtswomen are important to Jenn.

She also appreciates the value of the VBC in our larger Lake Erie community. Jenn grew up in Cincinnati and moved to Lake Erie in 2005. She is a member of the Port Clinton Yacht Club and the Catawba Island Club, and enjoys the similarities and differences to the VBC. She fell in love with Vermilion and moved to town in 2013. She enjoys all aspects of boating, sailing and life on the water. Jenn appreciates and values this community and is fortunate to call it home.

Jenn is a family physician and Regional Medical Director for ChenMed and Dedicated Senior Centers, organizations committed to the health care of our nation’s neediest populations. She has served on many medical and health department boards locally and nationally. She has served as the Food and Beverage Trustee for the VBC and is a member of the VBC’s Leukemia Cup organizing committee. Jenn was fortunate to represent the VBC in 2018 and 2019 at the national Leukemia Cup celebration, where our club was recognized in the top 10 in the nation for donations collected to fight blood cancers!

Rear Commodore

Cliff Simonson

Cliff spent his formative years in Elyria. He moved to Vermilion in 2015 on a full-time basis after retiring from the Eaton Corporation in 2014 where he spent 35-years at their world headquarters facility managing the company’s U.S. Federal tax audits, and afterwards consulting for a law firm in Washington, D.C. on a multi-national tax controversy. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a Master’s degree in Finance from Cleveland State University and is a CPA, now with an inactive status. Cliff and his wife, Mary Beth, of 40-years, operate Simonson Investments, Inc., a company he formed over 40-years ago, which owns and rents residential properties.

He and Mary Beth previously lived in Westlake for 30 plus years where they raised two children, Bethany and Brenton, who now reside in Northern Virginia and South Carolina. Prior to moving to Vermilion, Cliff and his family had been boaters at Romp’s Water Port for 12-years and later owned a condo at Crystal Cove Condominiums for nine years that was used for weekend getaways. They have been members of the VBC now for four years and have enjoyed developing many social relationships.
